The project summary says CIF planning grant funding will support plans to renovate 280 Blake Street into The Umbrella, a flexible visual and performing arts venue.
The December 18, 2025 State Bond Commission agenda includes A Broken Umbrella Theatre under the Community Investment Fund item, describing the project as a planning grant to support renovations of 280 Blake Street into a flexible visual and performing arts venue.
This public investment builds on the 2023 Good to Great grant, when the State of Connecticut announced $500,000 for A Broken Umbrella Theatre to create a black box theater, cultural hub, and operational base.
