The Great Give 2026 — thank you

New pages. New stages. All ages.

The May 6 giving day has ended; follow-up gifts still support the work.

A Broken Umbrella Theatre has spent seventeen years finding the stories New Haven has not told yet and building the stages where those stories can happen. Great Give support helped carry the next show, young artists, The Regicides, summer education, and The Umbrella at 280 Blake Street. If you missed the giving window, you can still make a follow-up gift.

Where your gift goes

Your donation is split equally across five funds so every part of the company gets a piece of the day.

  1. The Show

Revolutionary Era New Haven, a new original production built through community creation sessions and inspired by the city's role in the founding of the American experiment.

  2. Young Artists Fellowship

Paid opportunities for high school and college students to work alongside the ensemble in performance, design, backstage practice, and arts administration.

  3. The Regicides Comedy Improv

New Haven's long-running improv troupe, bringing the company's performers into rooms across the city for fast, generous, deeply local comedy.

  4. Eli Whitney Summer Camp

Summer theatre education where A Broken Umbrella teaching artists share devised theatre and improvisation tools with young people.

  5. The Umbrella at 280 Blake Street

An affordable, professional-grade community arts venue in development at the intersection of Westville, Beaver Hills, and West River.

Why The Great Give matters

The Great Give is a 36-hour, community-wide giving event created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. It raises visibility and resources for local nonprofits, and it gives A Broken Umbrella Theatre a focused moment to bring new donors into the work.

Keep the momentum going.

The May 6 Great Give window has closed. Follow-up gifts now stay on our site and are tagged to the same 2026 campaign so the support can keep moving into shows, education, The Regicides, and The Umbrella.
